This is one of those games that just kinda went under the radar back when if first came out. Shadows are a little buggy and some of the textures aren't loading in the menus, but other than that, the game seems perfectly functional so far. I was surprised to learn that the emulator can actually make the game run in 1080p, no upscaling or stretching, but legit 1920x1080 resolution. I also completely forgot that the game actually had a widescreen setting, it's actually quite surprising considering that this is a N64 game. Playing without a proper N64 controller feels weird in this game. I guess it makes sense considering that the control scheme was designed for it. I was using a Logitech F310 Gamepad in this video and I had to bind the C-directional buttons to the right analog stick. This game took up a huge chunk of my childhood. Not only because it was fun, bust also because of how surprisingly deep it was at the time. The one problem that I guess I had at the time was how you had to strategize as soon as you start a new game. There are items throughout the game that increase the capacity of the weapon you're holding at the time of acquiring the item. The thing is, you had to pick the right weapons to increase the capacity of, as there was a limited amount of items. It wasn't until I barely got by in the midgame boss fight that I realized I had invested in the wrong weapons. By then it was too late. I ended up making it to the final boss, Mizar, but wasn't able to defeat him. All the weapons that I needed to defeat him were all too low capacity, and there are no ammo drops during the fight. I spent maybe 50 hours give or take on the game. So you can imagine how frustrated I was when I realized there was no way to defeat the final boss with my current arsenal. I ended up abandoning the game, because I didn't want to go through the entire thing again. It's funny how I used to hate a game that made you plan from the start back then. But nowadays I would consider a game that did this a godsend. The only game I've played recently that did this was 'FTL: Faster Than Light.' Except that game isn't quite as linear as this one, and not nearly as long.
